By Sam Laskaris Writer A little bit of golf history was made at an area course this week. The inaugural Indigenous Ontario Championship was held at the MontHill Golf & Country Club located next door to Caledonia. The three-day event, which concluded on Tuesday, marked the first open provincial championship for Indigenous golfers in Canada. Representatives from 41 Indigenous communities throughout North America took part in the historic tourney. The competition was restricted to First Nations, Metis and Inuit golfers. The MontHill Golf & Country Club, regarded as one of the top courses in southern Ontario, was chosen as the host site for the event because of its strong community ties.
