A decision by nations of the world to step up and take responsibility for the environmental mess that we have come to live in couldn’t have brought a brighter moment to the coming holiday season. It’s being hailed as a historic deal that even surprised those attending the 15th meeting of the Conference on Biodiversity (COP15) in Montreal. Finally a move to save the planet. The last minute deal is aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and as a result protect a third of the planet for nature by 2030. Within eight years the agreement hopes to protect vital ecosystems including rainforests and wetlands and finally recognizes the rights of Indigenous peoples. And its about time. Especially since the world is now coming to the realization that its Indigenous lands that hold
