By Turtle Island News Changes to the way Indigenous Services Canad (ISC) provides much needed education dollars coupled with changes in Six Nations Elected Council’s (SNEC) finance department has left Kawenní:io/Gawení:yo Private School (KGPS)in a “worrisome” state. KGPS told SNEC’s finance meeting Monday (Nov 7) it is having issues with Indigenous funding models, understanding changes to those models. Ruby Jacobs Chair of Kawenní:io/Gawení:yo Board of Directors led a delegation to ask SNEC for help understanding, navigating and simplifying funding structures as well as asking for more funding. Jacobs, Six Nations former health department director, said she’s used to an annual funding cycle where budgets are approved in December and funds allocated in April, but says funding paperwork has gone through “all kinds of revisions.” “This has been very, very difficult
