Petition seeks removal of Mississaugas of Credit First Nation chief

MISSISSAUGAS OF CREDIT FIRST NATION- The Chief of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation has been asked to step down after allegations surfaced against her husband including allegations of sexual assaults. Chief Clare Sault did not respond to Turtle Island News inquires as of press time. Communications spokesperson Georgia LaForme also did not respond to Turtle Island News emails. A petition demanding the chief step down began circulating earlier this week with 113 people having signed by press time. The petition had been posted to a local community bulletin board but has been removed. The petition outlined concerns about Chief Claire Sault’s husband Darrell Clause Jr., that include allegations of sexual assaults. Chief Sault is not connected to the allegations.
