Local lacrosse association received major assist via grant

By Sam Laskaris Writer Representatives with the Six Nations Girls Field Lacrosse Association (SNGFLA) have received some welcome news. The local association was recently informed that it will be receiving a $20,000 Jumpstart grant for the 2023 season. Jumpstart is the Canadian Tire charity that aims to provide children with equal access to sports and physical activity. Individual, team and community grants are available. SNGFLA president Tawnie Johnson said Jumpstart’s community development grants have two streams of funding that associations can apply for. The local group opted to send in an Operational Support application. “This stream of funding assists organizations in building capacity and/or covering increased expenses to provide inclusive, safe sport participation,” Johnson said. Johnson was also obviously pleased that the local association would be receiving a sizeable amount
