By  Sandi Krasowski, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter The Chronicle-Journal  28/08/2024 12:20 A peaceful opposition rally of more than 100 people outside of Thunder Bay City Hall on Monday evening, and a presentation and a deputation to city council about concerns of the transportation of nuclear waste through the community has gathered some momentum. In a seven to five vote, Thunder Bay City Council agreed to review current transportation standards for the movement of hazardous goods within city boundaries after hearing a presentation by the City’s Inter-governmental Affairs Committee and a deputation provided by members of Ontario Nuclear Free Thunder Bay and Environment North. The deputation provided new information and highlighted recent developments regarding the nuclear industry’s proposal to transport up to three multi-tonne loads per day of radioactive nuclear fuel waste
