After a fire tragically destroyed the home of a Six Nations family on Friday, (Jan 6 2023) community members and the public are working together to help Vera Jane Quissy and her family start to rebuild their lives. Fire broke out in the single family home on Iroquois Ridge a small road off of Town Line Road just west of Chiefswood Road and tore through the building shortly before 11 a.m. Firefighters were on the scene and called for more manpower as the quickly moving fire spread. Pumpers had to leave the scene to fill and transport back water. The smoke was so thick at times neighbouring houses could not be seen. All emergency services were on the scene. Family members had escaped and were taken to a neighbour’s house
