But members of 10 squads that participated in a local lacrosse tournament that wrapped up on Sunday were also helping out a good cause. The seventh annual Dreamcatcher Lacrosse Festival, a men’s box lacrosse tournament, concluded with a local squad dubbed Down Below Lax beating another Six Nations-based club called Frog Pond Maulers 9-6 in the championship final. All tournament matches were staged at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville. “We had 16 teams that wanted in,” said event co-ordinator Josh Powless. “But we could only take 10.” Powless said organizers were not able to accommodate any additional squads simply because because of time restraints at the three-day tournament. “The one day we had
