It wasn’t an easy task. Today, it is still unknown to many. But the international fight for Haudenosaunee rights began at Six Nations of the Grand River over a century ago. And it began quietly. They held bake sales and dances and came up with ways to raise money to help. Unbeknown to audiences, and even some residents of Six Nations, the Pageant, a play based on Haudenosaunee history that continued to the late 1990s, itself began as a subversive activity with money raised going to the fight for autonomy.
