Over 5,000 people attended a traditional powwow at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sept. 30. hosted by the Siksika Nation and the Calgary Hitmen marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.( John Watson Photo) By John Watson  Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Siksika Nation hosted an Every Child Matters powwow at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sept. 30 to celebrate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The event was held in partnership with the Calgary Hitmen, as well as a host of partners and sponsors. Consisting of two feature dances and a greeting from Orange Shirt Day founder Phyllis Webstad, the event attracted over 5,000 people from the local region in attendance.
