Amid concern, and even anger, towards the idea of a hyper-scale AI data centre being built in the NWT, Lyle Fabian, CEO of Yellowknife-based tech company Katlo Tech, assured that no one is proposing to build such a massive facility, at least not yet. He said there’s a lot of misunderstanding and confusion around what a data centre is, and what it could mean for the territory. “What we’re building is a traditional data centre, which people have been living near and by for the past four decades,” said Fabian.
