Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Big House opens in a moment more than 60 years in the making

A large wooden structure with Indigenous murals of an eagle and a bear visible.

The opening takes place more than 60 years after the two tribes, who are part of the Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw peoples, were amalgamated and relocated to the Tsulquate reserve on northern Vancouver Island from B.C.'s mainland.
